Whether you're a beginner or seasoned artist, this two-hour instructional lesson will guide you through the steps and materials needed to create stunning watercolor portraits. Here's what you can expect:
π©βπ¨ No drawing skills needed - dive right into painting beautiful portraits! π The lesson is divided into 6 separate sections for easy navigation and learning. β° No experience required - start and stop the video at any time to suit your pace.
In this class, we'll cover:
ποΈ What supplies you'll need and why (see below for supply list). ποΈ How to lightly sketch out your portrait for the perfect composition. π When and where to use masking fluid for precise details. π§ Understanding wet-on-wet and wet-on-dry washes for different effects. ποΈ Practicing soft edges, lost edges, and hard edges to add depth to your portraits. π How and when to use an erasable pen to enhance your artwork.
Recommended Supplies: Here's what you'll need for the class:
Watercolor paints: Permanent Rose, Permanent Yellow Deep, Phthalo Blue. You can even use the 16-color "Prang" pan set.
Brushes: Round detail brush size 0-2, round brush size 12-16, a few flat brushes in assorted sizes.
Paper: Arches watercolor paper (cold press, 140# or 300#).
Water containers, paper towels, masking tape, #2 pencil, kneaded eraser, foam board or acrylic for taping down paper, chaco paper for tracing the image or a projector, masking fluid and applicator.
